How to survive a dumpling crawl
Eat breakfast. Yes! It may seem counter-intuitive, but a light breakfast with some fresh fruit or veggies before you get on the train will help with the urge to gorge yourself at the first stop on your crawl. it’ll make rule number two easier to follow, see below.
Pace yourself. We are so serious about this one! It won’t be easy, especially if you arrive in Flushing on an empty stomach, but you will enjoy the experience more overall if you are able to limit yourself to one or two dumplings per location — max! Thank us when you still have space to enjoy the last stops on your route.
Bring your own water bottle and make a point to stay hydrated. Sure, you can pick up a water bottle once you get off the train or when you start to feel thirsty, but we all know by now that plastic is bad news and you will be consuming enough disposables throughout the rest of the day that it makes sense to at least try to cut down on one of them if you plan for it.
Wear stretchy pants, a loose top and comfortable walking shoes. Need we say more? Thankfully, this is the current Instagram aesthetic — don’t forget to tag us in your dumpling pics!
Take the stairs. Always. From the moment you wake up, take the stairs to get to the subway, and while walking around the days leading up to your dumpling crawl. This won’t necessarily make more space in your belly to fit extra dumplings, but you will feel better when it’s all said and done if you make a point to move your body as much as you can throughout the day.
Stop for a refreshing iced Taiwan fruit tea. It’s cool and refreshing and balances out the rich dumplings. We like Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea because you can choose your sweetness and ice level plus it’s delicious!
Be open! Sometimes certain dumplings will be sold out. Ask around about what to order, or take a wild card and try something new!
